God Cares
by Milford Bowen
In
Psalm 94:19 it reads “In the multitude of my thoughts within me thy comforts
delight my soul.” The word “thoughts” in this verse is translated cares or
thoughts that distract or divide. The New Revised Standard Version reads
“When the cares of my heart are many, your consolations cheer my soul.” What
a comforting promise.
We perhaps have times in our lives
when we have many cares. In those times God promises to cheer our souls with
His comfort.
Let's look at this same word “thought”
that is used throughout Matthew 6:25-34. Why take ye thought ~or your life,
your food, your drink, your clothes, your body, or for tomorrow? This
doesn't mean don't think about it. It means don't let these things be
distracting cares. Matthew 6:32 tells us that our heavenly Father knows that
we have need of all these things. Matthew 6:33 “But seek ye first the
kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added
unto you.” All what things? All those things cited earlier, those things
that could tend to be distracting cares at times.
Who cares? God does! He doesn't want
us to have any distracting cares. I Peter 5:7 reads “Casting all your care
on him; for He careth for you.” It does not say cast all your care upon Him
when you don't know what else to do. Don't try everything else first; cast
your cares on Him, for He cares!
Again a form of the same word is used
in Philippians 4:6, “Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and
supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.”
The word careful means to become distracted or anxious. God does not want us
to be distracted with any cares.
God doesn't promise that we won't have
any cares. Isn't it great that we know what to do with them? Cast them unto
Him, let your requests be made knowr/unto Him, seek Him first, and be
comforted by Him. ,
“When the cares of my heart are many,
your consolations cheer my soul” {Psalm 94:14 NRV).
Does anyone care? God does. God bless
you today
